Rail
SIMPACK is a general purpose three dimensional Multi-Body Simulation (MBS) Software which is uniquely suited to the analysis and design of any type of rail-based vehicle or mechanism – from tramcars to complete articulated high-speed trains, from roller coasters to material handling systems. SIMPACK, used worldwide by manufacturers and operators, is the leading MBS software for railway system dynamics.
The modular structure of SIMPACK models enables easy model generation and exchange of components for analyses where different levels of fidelity are required. One example is SIMPACK’s use of rigid car bodies for acceptance tests as opposed to flexible bodies for higher frequency comfort analyses. Airspring systems, drivelines, and pantographs can all be easily inserted into complete vehicle models. Track layouts, excitations, and test-rigs can be selected for simulating different user defined simulation scenarios. Multiple load cases with different model variants can be fully automated, including report generation.
The renowned accuracy and speed of SIMPACK enable efficient testing and acceptance analyses. The inherent stability and robustness of the SIMPACK solver enables extreme non-linear transient manoeuvres where shock contact is involved (e.g. derailment analyses, running over switches, durability, etc).
